The Indonesia-UK DIKTI Scholarship Programme is now open for lecturers in Indonesia to come to study for their doctorate at many leading universities in the United Kingdom. A small number of master’s scholarships will also be available. The programme will fund up to 750 academics to come and study in the UK over the next five years.
You can study at over seventy universities or higher education institutions in the UK. All academic subjects will be considered for full funding under the DIKTI scheme. Who can apply?
The scheme is open to permanent and prospective faculty members at Indonesian universities and administrative staff in DIKTI or Indonesian state universities. Click here for more information about eligibility requirements.
How do I apply?
You need to apply directly to the university that you wish to study at and follow their application process. Often you will need to submit a detailed research proposal and provide academic references. Please inform them that you are a DIKTI scholar. Click here for more information about how to apply.
What academic qualifications do I need?
For PhD study you would normally be expected to hold a Masters degree or equivalent, however in some cases, having extensive research experience in your chosen field might be enough but this varies from institution to institution and the requirements of your PhD supervisor. For master’s study you would be expected to hold a Bachelors degree or equivalent.
What level of English do I need?
You will need a high standard of English. The level of English required for specific research disciplines will be part of the entry requirement for each department of university. Details are available here.
Why study in the UK?

PhD research will normally be driven by your self-guided research work or you may undertake defined research work as part of a team pursuing a broader research project. Academic supervisors will be appointed to provide guidance when needed by you.
