On December 16th, the signing ceremony of 2017 Shanghai Forum and the first preparation report meeting were held at Fudan University. Jiao Yang, Chairperson of Fudan University Council expressed her gratitude towards the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies for its support for the Forum and Fudan University.
In the preparation report meeting, Xu Ningsheng, President of Fudan University signed the cooperation agreement with Park In-kook, President of the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. President Park In-kook praised the preparation work and the innovation on organizational structures, and selection of guests and issues for discussion.
Shanghai Forum is an international academic forum hosted by Fudan University and the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies and organized by Fudan Development Institute. It provides an exchange platform for people from China and other countries and sets an example for regional and national development.
The next Shanghai Forum will be held on May 27-29, 2017, with the theme of “Economic Globalization and the Choice of Asia—Asia and the World: New Drive, New Pattern and New Order”. The Forum will be consisted of four sessions, including “global governance”, “China and the World”, “network governance” and “ecological governance”. The topics cover power relations, financial innovation, side supply reform, One Belt and One Road, 16+1 cooperation, network security, energy Internet, and environmental protection.
The next Forum will make more new attempts based on the previous experience. It will continue the overseas warming-up roundtables to further expand its global influence and bring together more foreign intellectual resources. Participants will be more diverse from various countries like Turkey, India, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Estonia, Latvia, Hungary, Thailand, Singapore, ASEAN and Central Eastern Europe. The application for roundtables/sub-forums will still be open to all over the world. At present, it has received applications from more than 70 universities, think tanks, companies and other institutions of 19 countries.
